Actually, Yes! They are! As we know all too well utility
costs never go down and heating even the modest of homes can be an expensive
proposition. Have you ever considered installing a wood burning stove in your
home? These handy appliances are no longer being used only in summer homes and
lake side cottages. Quite to the contrary wood burning stoves are now
considered to be nostalgic and chic and can be found in the most upscale homes.
According to the EPA the use of wood burning stoves has increased an amazing
39% since the year 2004 as homeowners discover both the charm and substantial
savings as compared to more traditional heating systems.
Big Savings
Wood burning stoves require nothing
more than, you guessed it, wood! Wood is a very inexpensive fuel source,
especially if you happen to own an acre or two. But even if you live in
downtown metropolis there are plenty of home centers where you can purchase
firewood at a very reasonable cost. The savings on your utility bill will be
immediate and it takes very little time to recoup your investment.
The Perfect Ambiance
Few things are more relaxing than
sitting in front of a warm fire on a cold night with your favorite hot drink.
Whether you’re snuggled up with your better half or watching television with
the kiddies it’s hard to beat a hot cocoa in front of the fire.
Fast, Efficient and Clean
Nothing warms up a cold room quicker
than a genuine wood burning stove and adding what is known as a “blower” will
help to heat up other parts of the home as well. There is no more economical
way to warm things up than with natural fire and although you may not realize
it wood is a clean burning fuel. It does not pollute the air or the environment
and no toxins are released. Provided that you take the proper precautions,
burning wood for heat is both safe and very efficient.
Beautiful Craftsmanship for Any
Décor
Unlike the
old fashioned black and UGLY wood burning stove that we all imagine in our
minds today’s versions are available in many different varieties. While the
stoves are still made using cast iron many designer colors are available in
porcelain enamel with beautiful gloss finishes that are sure to look great in
just about any modern home. If you are a sucker for nostalgia however, you can
still opt for an antique replica such as was used back in the day.
Tax Credits?
While I’m not sure about this year I
know for a fact that the U.S. government was issuing tax credits in 2013 to
homeowners that installed a wood burning stove and a tax break is always a good
thing!
If you would like to save big money
to heat your home in the winter months I suggest taking a look at the new
generation of wood burning stoves. It’s a great way to add a touch of style to
your home and is sure to be a great conversation piece at your next home party.
